Our Curriculum
City Academy provides a meaningful and
engaging education through the challenging curriculum we offer our
7-12 grade students. Our six-year curriculum meets and surpasses
the Utah State core curriculum. In addition, City Academy offers
numerous Advanced Placement (AP) courses as well as the internationally
recognized Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) courses. For
more information regarding state requirements, AP or CIE Examinations,
please refer to the links to the left. For a current list of AP
and CIE course offerings, please call the school office at 801-596-8489.
Each student must continue to make progress and meet the requirements
in each of our three divisions. Division I includes students in
7th and 8th grades; Division II includes students in 9th and 10th
grades, and Division III includes students in 11th and 12th grades.
Each of the three divisions require the annual completion of a student
portfolio. Along with a graduation portfolio, our graduation credit
requirements are higher than those set by the state with a total
of 28 required for graduation. The State of Utah also requires students
to pass all three sections of the Utah Basic Skills Competency Test
(UBSCT), or attempt the tests at least three times in order to receive
a high school diploma. Below is a description of the requirements
for promotion from Divisions I & II and graduation requirements
for Division III.
