Great Teachers

City Academy's teaching faculty is dedicated to creating a dynamic learning environment that promotes high achievement, celebrates diversity, prepares students for college, and instills commitment to life-long learning. Our teachers - who hail from England, India, China, and across the United States and Utah- bring a variety of backgrounds and interests to the school community. Our Academic Service Learning Coordinator has valuable connections with community groups and agencies to help us build learning opportunities for our students. All teachers are state recognized as highly qualified. City Academy professional staff includes 1 member who holds a PhD, 9 who hold Master's degrees, and 9 who hold Bachelor's degrees. The average experience of the teaching faculty is 11 years.

As described on this web site, City Academy offers unique opportunities for teachers to create classes that are challenging, rigorous, and meaningful.  We have openings in the following areas for the coming school year (2008-09).  Full time teachers will also have the opportunity to be an advisor to a grade specific group of students as well as a facilitator on one of our school student service learning committees.  To apply for any of the positions listed below please send a cover letter and resume to mark@cityacademyslc.org, or FAX the same to 801-521-4181 attn. Substitute Teachers
City Academy needs substitutes! This is a paid position, at your convenience, usually with last-minute (early morning) notice.

Requirements:

- Be willing to lead classes of 7th through 12th graders with   enthusiasm (the teacher leaves you a plan or materials)

- You must be fingerprinted and pass background check   (substitute pays fee for background check…approximately   $50)

- You should have at least a high school diploma or GED
