Grant Stock
Executive Director
Dr. Grant Stock currently serves as the executive director of City Academy. One of his passions throughout his life has been education. Dr. Stock received a Bachelor's Degree in Physics and Chemistry from Utah Valley University in 2006 and a Master's in Education Administration in 2010 from William Woods University, and in 2018, he received a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.
Dr. Stock began his educational career at Tooele Junior High, where he taught 7th and 8th-grade science. In 2007, his family moved to Missouri, where he taught 7-8 grade science, physical science, physics, chemistry, and science olympiad at a small rural school called Midway High School.
In 2011, with some reluctance, Dr. Stock decided to leave the classroom and take a job as a high school principal at Crane High School. This turned out to be a great move for him and his family. Dr. Stock served as the principal at Crane High School for six years. In 2017, his desire to return to the Salt Lake Valley to be closer to his children (they all started moving back to the valley), as well as a love of STEM, caused him to apply and accept the invitation to be the executive director and help create the new Real Salt Lake Academy High School.
Finally, in 2023, in a desire to work more closely with education rather than sports, Dr. Stock decided to accept the position as executive director at City Academy.
In addition, to keep his skills sharp, he teaches classes on teacher pedagogy and school funding at Grand Canyon University. He enjoys interacting with future teachers and trying to help them be more prepared to teach in the classroom. It has reminded him of how much he enjoys teaching and the processes involved in making teaching effective.
