Kellie Lockwood
Principal / Special Education Director
With 25 years in education, Kellie Lockwood brings passion, energy, and a whole lot of heart to City Academy. She began her career as a special education teacher and has since served in multiple roles supporting students and teachers—especially those navigating behavioral and social-emotional challenges. Over the years, Kellie has led both an elementary school and a K–9 charter school, all while serving as Special Education Director. (Yes, she really does run on sunshine and purpose.)
Kellie holds a Bachelor’s degree in History and Special Education; a Master’s in Administration and Leadership; a Master’s in Special Education with an Educational Diagnostician degree; and a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard. In short: she loves learning almost as much as she loves helping others learn.
Outside of school, Kellie’s world is delightfully full. She’s married, a proud mom of 11, and a grandma to 11 more—meaning she’s no stranger to organized chaos and expert-level multitasking. When she’s not supporting students or cheering on teachers, you can find her watching sports, cooking up something delicious, hiking, or doing anything that lets her soak up the sunshine.
Warm, dedicated, and always ready with a smile, Kellie leads City Academy with a blend of professional expertise, lived experience, and genuine love for her community.
